It's been said that the Dipseanet began in 1937, which makes it the oldest running amateur radio net west of the Mississippi.  History tells us that in the beginning the primary mode used was CW. Sometime after WWII, and the end of that period of radio silence, the primary mode became SSB phone though I am sure there were still a lot of folks using a straight key.  The current members of the net get together often for potlucks, camp-outs, potlucks at camp-outs, lunches, breakfasts, and more.  Check the UPCOMING EVENTS page or the CALENDAR page for future gatherings.  The only requirement for membership to the Dipseanet is participation.  So if you have a General Class license or higher, join us at 8am and/or 5pm (4pm during the fall and winter), any day of the week on 3940 kilocycles.  If you are one of those who only listen, surprise us sometime by showing up to an event and introducing yourself.  73!
